Riscoe charms everyone’s socks off in this smooth murder thriller. She takes in a new boarder at her boarding house (owned by her father—a policemen!) who’s wanted by the police for a brutal slaying of a young woman. When the real killers show up (one marvelously played by Le Mesurier) things get very exciting indeed. Even at this early date, Gilling’s talent as a director is quite evident.
